Network Systems Engineer

Hiboo Networks Inc. is currently searching for a talented individual to join our team as a Network Systems Engineer. This position will be responsible for building and maintaining the company’s Service Provider Network technology stack across Routing, Switching, Access Network, Security, DDI and its future evolution across SDN/NFV to deliver its key features and offerings in the market.

The successful candidate will be highly interested in Service Provider Networks / Data Centre technologies alike and want to help drive the software-defined and NFV roadmap and adoption within a service provider network.

What You Will Do

  • Lead, manage, support, and maintain the overall network design, configuration and day to day operations in collaboration with the Senior Network Architect & Network Operations
  • Support the core, access and customer networks in collaboration with internal (Security, Architecture, and Sales) as well as external partners (customers, vendors, service providers)
  • Lead equipment engineering responsibilities for network devices and customer premise equipment
  • Manage the IP address design and assignment for network and customers
  • Provide advanced level, support, to the NOC for service provisioning as well as operational incidents and outage management
  • Promote and fully participate in key Service Management processes of Incident, Problem, Change, Configuration, Capacity and Service Level Management
  • Document and create processes that simplify service implementation and troubleshooting
  • Manage the overall SNMP and Monitoring architecture
  • Assist with ongoing security posture and capacity planning of the network
  • Assist go-to-market team for new product introduction, assisting with estimation of operational implications of new platforms, features and functionality
  • Maintain overall cost to serve efficiency of the company’s offerings
  • Provide input and make recommendations on new technologies to enhance business
  • Evolve technology to improve overall network performance while reducing recurring cost
  • Train others on new platform test procedures as required

As you will be involved in the initial buildout of this greenfield network, under the direction of the Senior Network Architect and Network Security Architect you additionally will:

  • Support the vendors in the integration between Network (Routers, Switches, Optical/DWDM),  DDI elements of the network, and Security (FW, DDOS, SIEM, and IDAM) policies
  • Manage the creation and testing of all methods, procedures, and service configuration templates for product offerings
  • Validate the vendor specification, configuration and setting up test requirements for each equipment in the technology stack
  • Manage end-to-end use-cases and lead testing activities
  • Act as the Technical interface between network equipment vendors and NOC to ensure end to end integration testing is inclusive of Service Assurance and monitoring

What You Need to Have – Skills and Qualifications

  • A Post-Secondary Diploma or Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or another related discipline
  • A minimum of Juniper Associate Certification (JNCIA) with demonstrated enrollment into JNCIS-SP certification.
  • Preferred (7+) years of hands-on technical working experience with leading equipment manufacturer (e.g. Nokia, Ciena, Cisco, Juniper, Adva, Palo Alto, Fortinet, Infoblox and Bluecat) at a service provider or enterprise level capacity
  • Solid understanding of various network topologies and architectures- specifically Service Provider ISP and Carrier Ethernet
  • Knowledge of Routing, Switching & Data Center protocols and spine-leaf architecture.
  • Knowledge & experience of analyzing packet captures & Protocol analysis and proficiency with tools to collect network statistics utilizing protocols (SNMP, NetFlow, etc…)
  • Working knowledge of 802.1x, firewalls, security policies, access lists
  • Understanding concepts behind OSI, MEF2.0/Carrier ETH, LAN, WAN, DWDM, and XGS PON, and the ability to trouble shoot
  • Working knowledge of web applications firewalls, load balancers and proxies.
  • Experience with risk-free software upgrades and device maintenance

* This position is expected to be a part of the teams’ rotational on-call duties and, when required, be a part of after-hours project deployments in the evenings or weekends.

  • Juniper Specialist level, Service Provider certification (JNCIS-SP)
  • Certifications in Optical Networking with vendors such as Adva, Ciena, Nokia
  • Other industry certifications in Networking, Cloud, Data Center, Security
  • Previous outside/technician experience
